To protect the terraces, walking barefoot on the terraces and walkways is the rule. As it is slippery, walk carefully watching your step. Don't forget a bag for your shoes and a towel to wipe your feet!
On the hill of Pamukkale's travertine terraces lie the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis, which once flourished as a Roman Empire spa resort. You can visit the ancient Roman amphitheatre.
In this land where bizarrely shaped rock formations stand, it is said that Christians carved dwellings out of the rock to escape persecution. Wall paintings of Christ remain in the ruins of the churches.
